Prices
How much is 1 kg of metal?
The value of 1 kilogram of metal depends entirely on the type of metal. Common metals like steel or aluminium are priced much lower than precious or industrial metals such as copper, brass, or stainless steel. Market demand, purity, and recycling conditions can all influence the final value per kilogram.
For example, scrap yards and recycling centres may offer different rates depending on the metal’s quality and current market conditions. If you’re selling metal as scrap or buying raw material, it’s best to check with a local metal recycler or commodity pricing site for the most accurate and up-to-date rates.
What do scrap metal collectors take?
Scrap metal collectors accept a wide range of materials, including both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This typically covers things like copper wiring, old pipes, machinery parts, metal offcuts, and other discarded metal items. Whether it’s leftover construction scrap or unwanted industrial equipment, most metals can be collected.
A good scrap metal service won’t just take it away - they’ll sort, salvage, and recycle as much as possible, ensuring your waste is handled responsibly and sustainably.
What is the highest paying scrap metal?
When it comes to scrapping for maximum return, copper is usually the most valuable metal. Its high demand across electrical and plumbing industries makes it a top choice for serious recyclers. Other high-paying metals include brass, aluminium, and stainless steel, especially when sorted and cleaned properly.
To get the best payout, it’s important to identify and separate your metals correctly. Professional testing or grading ensures you’re getting full value for your scrap.
What are the latest prices for scrap metal?
Scrap metal prices change frequently based on global market conditions, demand, and the type of metal being sold. Common metals like copper, aluminium, steel, and brass each have their own pricing trends, which can vary by region and quality.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date scrap metal prices, it’s best to contact your local scrap yard or recycling centre. Many also publish daily or weekly price updates online, making it easier to plan your drop-off and maximise your return - like us!
